ARMOR: DO I PUT IT ON OR TAKE IT OFF?!

ARMOR: DO I PUT IT ON OR TAKE IT OFF?!

The Armor of God 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which...

FEAR BASED LIVING vs. PEACE BASED LIVING

FEAR BASED LIVING vs. PEACE BASED LIVING

If I asked you if you make most of your daily decisions out of fear, you would probably say no, right? I would probably say the same thing. I mean, I have dealt with fear and anxiety throughout the years, but I wouldn’t say most of my decisions are based in fear. However, because I, myself, have been so effected by mental/emotional issues as well as my friends and family members, I have been on a quest to learn more about emotions and spirituality the last few years. I have taken classes, read books, listened to sermons, gone to therapy – you name it!  And when applying what I have learned on the subject of emotions, I asked the question again – “Do I make most of my daily decisions out of fear?” I didn’t like the answer. Because the answer was, well yah, not all the time, but kind of a lot of the time! The reason I got on the train of thinking on fear based living...

What’s Wrong With Being Confident

What’s Wrong With Being Confident

I like to take walks as often as possible along our neighborhood running path.  I’ve always been pretty good about exercising, but I hate to run! I think it has something to do with having to stop and hurl while trying to run long distance in middle school! Anyway, I’m one of those people take up the whole sidewalk walking my dog and jamming with earphones in. I try to schootch over for you stud-ly runners! So, I was on my walk the other day, with my vicious, and tiny little dog, Shadow – well, actually, she is an 8-pound beige and white cute-face Maltzu (Shitzu/Maltese mix). At home Shadow is a major lap dog. She loves every person who walks through the door and will make you let her sit in your lap, and you better pet her or you are going to get the paw! As always, while we were walking down the path, shadow runs to “attack” every single dog behind the fences. Seriously, there...

Where is God in All This Crap?!

Where is God in All This Crap?!

(Finding God in the Midst of all this Worldly Destruction!) Excuse my language, but some of you probably feel the same way.  As I said in an earlier article, I am attempting to educate myself more in current events and politics. The problem is, the more educated I become, the more depressed I become! There is a lot of junk happening! From politicians being ridiculous, to the bombing of the airport in Brussels. I find myself asking, where is God in all of this crap?! As I prayed about these current events, and asked God that very question, I felt Him say – “I never leave or forsake you.”  Then He reminded me of something that happened to me last week. I go to an amazing counselor. I think everyone should get counseling at some point in their lives – it’s life changing!  Through counseling and seeking God in my emotions, God has recently brought some suppressed memories to the surface. I’m not quite ready to get detailed about...

See the Ups and Downs Upside down!

See the Ups and Downs Upside down!

As I get older, I realize life is just a roller coaster full of ups and downs!  There is a reason Jesus says – “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart!  I have overcome the world.” John 16:33. We have ups and downs in finances, ups and downs in relationships, ups and downs in successes, ups and downs in our weight and really, everything else too! So, it’s confession time. I’m learning that my blogs starting to be full of confessions, but if it can help someone, I’m good to go! So, a couple of nights ago we took a picture because we went to dinner as a family. I’m not proud to say, that picture took me down for the rest of the night and a little the next morning before God brought me back to my senses! When looked at that picture, I heard the enemy say “look how heavy you have gotten- you look really big.” Satan is such a jerk! But I was...

Who The Heck Do I Vote For?! A Christian Girl’s Dilemma at the Booth

Who The Heck Do I Vote For?! A Christian Girl’s Dilemma at the Booth

OKAY! Truth time! I know as a believer in Jesus, I should be a good citizen and very educated on politics and current events. But up until now, I’m 40, I really haven’t.  I can’t even say I have voted in every election since turning 18.  I know! I’m not proud of it! However, in the past two presidential elections, I have felt convicted to pay attention and get more involved.  Part of the reason for the change is my husband, Donny. He is very educated about the candidates and their stance on certain issues. So, here we are at this year’s election! I literally didn’t know who I was going to vote for until I got in that little booth thing. Everything kept running through my mind.  – I like this guy because he seems like he really loves Jesus, but I don’t think he has a chance.  I don’t like that one guy.  People say they like that other guy, but I’m not sure what I...
